Ingredients
- apples – red delicious, granny smith, and gala are some of my favorite varieties
- cinnamon
- brown sugar
- granulated white sugar
- baking powder
- eggs
- butter
- flour
- vanilla extract
- milk
Step by step
- Preheat the oven and spray a loaf pan with nonstick spray.
- Mix the cinnamon sugar and chop your apples. Set aside.
- Beat the butter and sugar together in a stand mixer (affiliate link) or with a hand mixer.
- Add eggs and vanilla and mix until combined. Add the dry ingredients and mix again. Add the milk a little at a time until the batter is just combined.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Top with half of the apples and cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Pour in remaining batter and top with remaining apples and cinnamon sugar.
- Pat toppings into the top of the bread with the back of a spoon and bake for 50 minutes.
- Let the bread cool for ten minutes before removing from the pan.

Tips for best results
- Be sure to choose a firm apple variety such as Granny Smith, Pink Lady, Gala or Fuji. Softer types of apples won’t stand up to the baking.
- Swirl a knife through the batter if desired before baking if you want the apple chunks and cinnamon sugar more uniform through the bread.

Storage
Store bread covered with plastic wrap at room temperature for up to 3 days. Store in the refrigerator for up to a week.
This bread also freezes well. Simply allow the bread to cool completely then wrap in foil and store in a freezer bag. When you are ready to eat the bread, allow to thaw at room temperature before serving.

Is there a way to bake these in smaller loaf pans to share? What oven temp/time would you suggest? Thank you!

Yay! I’m so glad you liked it!
Loved this recipe. I had a hard time with bread sticking and I flowered and greased pan. Any suggestions
i just wanted to say, i made this knowing i have tried toi make apple bread before unsuccessfully. but this worked and is wonderful.
also, i made some changes. i used only 1/4 cup butter and replaced the rest with greek yogurt, and omitted all the brown sugar since i didnt have any, and used just a light sprinkle of white. it came out perfect. not too sweet and i havent calculated the calorie difference but i am guessing it is significant.
Wow! I just made this and it is amazing. This is going to be my new go to bread. Thank you for an amazing recipe!
holey cow…this bread is ammmmmazzzzing! Thank you for sharing the recipe – I know I’ll be sharing it with every one who tries it too. Seriously YUM and definitely a 5 star (or 10)!
Yay! I’m so glad you liked it Tina!
If I wanted to make 2 or more loaves at a time, does the baking temperature change? And for how much longer should I keep it there?
Hi Rachelle,
I’m not sure how much longer it would be but I would expect the cooking time to change (sorry-I’ve only ever baked one loaf at a time!) I’d just keep an eye on it and test the center with a toothpick until it comes out clean. Good luck!
I’ve made this twice already using two Granny Smith apples, and it was sooo delicious! Thanks for posting!
I’m so glad you liked it Katie! Thanks for popping back by to let me know how it turned out!
Great recipe, I added nuts for some crunch
Glad you enjoyed it Jo!
Loved this recipe! Delicious! I just featured it on my blog 🙂
The house smelled so good….everyone I shared it with loved it…I only think I will add a bit of salt next time….also. …..could this be made with say…blueberries or peaches?
I’m not sure but I’ll put it on my list to try! If you try it I’d love if you let me know how it turns out!
It looks so good, i had to try this and made it this morning using two Granny Smith apples. It was wonderful fresh out of the oven with just a bit of butter! My picky son brought back his empty plate in minutes, asking for more. Took some to my mom and she raved about it too! Thanks for sharing the terrific recipe, it was so easy I know I will be making it regularly.
I cannot possibly praise this bread enough. It makes the house smell amazing and it tastes great. Thanks for this
I’m so glad you loved it as much as I did Rachel! Thanks for coming back to comment!!
This looks & sounds yummy! Would like to make it a little healthier, could I use the same amount of applesauce or coconut oil in place of the butter? Going to try gluten free flour & cane sugar instead, any suggestions for the changes?
Thanks so much!
I haven’t made substitutions myself Wendy but I found this pin that give some good guidelines: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/4574037097600938/
That’s awesome!
Thanks Melissa!!
Have you ever swirled in the cinnamon and apples instead of layering?
I haven’t Leslie but I do swirl the layers a bit sometimes so it’s pretty mixed in the dough once you bake it.
Oh wow does my house smell good!!! I can’t wait to cut into it after dinner!! Such an easy recipe too. Thanks so much for posting it!! Happy Fall!!
Oh great! I hope you loved it as much as I do Amy!
Hey!! This looks delicious!! I’m gonna make it but I have one question, what kind of apple do you think would be great in this recipe?
You can use any type of apple you like Joanna-I’ve personally made it with Gala and Red Delicious and it turned out wonderfully!
