Ingredients
- apples – red delicious, granny smith, and gala are some of my favorite varieties
- cinnamon
- brown sugar
- granulated white sugar
- baking powder
- eggs
- butter
- flour
- vanilla extract
- milk
Step by step
- Preheat the oven and spray a loaf pan with nonstick spray.
- Mix the cinnamon sugar and chop your apples. Set aside.
- Beat the butter and sugar together in a stand mixer (affiliate link) or with a hand mixer.
- Add eggs and vanilla and mix until combined. Add the dry ingredients and mix again. Add the milk a little at a time until the batter is just combined.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Top with half of the apples and cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Pour in remaining batter and top with remaining apples and cinnamon sugar.
- Pat toppings into the top of the bread with the back of a spoon and bake for 50 minutes.
- Let the bread cool for ten minutes before removing from the pan.

Tips for best results
- Be sure to choose a firm apple variety such as Granny Smith, Pink Lady, Gala or Fuji. Softer types of apples won’t stand up to the baking.
- Swirl a knife through the batter if desired before baking if you want the apple chunks and cinnamon sugar more uniform through the bread.

Storage
Store bread covered with plastic wrap at room temperature for up to 3 days. Store in the refrigerator for up to a week.
This bread also freezes well. Simply allow the bread to cool completely then wrap in foil and store in a freezer bag. When you are ready to eat the bread, allow to thaw at room temperature before serving.

I love this recipe!! I followed the directions exactly and it came out SO good. Will definely make again and share!!
Hi there! I see milk is listed in the ingredients list but not in the directions. Is it necessary?
Yes Katherine, the milk is added just after the flour and baking powder!
I never comment either, but ever since I tried this bread a few months back, my husband and children demand it allllllll the time!
I do make some substitutions:
– half the sugar
– half the butter, and the other half unsweetened apple sauce
– vanilla Greek yogurt instead of milk
Our favourite is in a flan mould with mandolin sliced apples on the top, and slivered inside. Yum….
Did I mention there is one in the oven IPAs i type this?
*as, not IPAs
Just made this last night and it was delicious! One question. How do you keep the bread from falling apart? I followed the recipient exactly but it was very hard to cut and eat the bread because it just kept falling apart. Anyone try it as a cupcake?
I made this last night for my kids for breakfast this morning. I barely got a slice. Gone in minutes! Sooo good. I used Grannny Smiths.
Yay! I’m so glad you enjoyed the recipe Kathy!
The whole family loved this. Making it again now. My first recipe I tried from Pinterest and so happy this was the best! I even used fat free milk and margarine since that was what was in the house and it baked well. Thank you for sharing. My family thanks you too
You’re very welcome Cheryl! I’m so glad you enjoyed it! ~Melissa
This looks absolutely amazing! I can’t wait to try it.
What if I were to leave the cinnamon, brown sugar and apples to sit together for a bit before adding it to the batter, would the taste then be too strong, not strong enought?
I don’t think it would be too strong Esra-if you try it though please come back and let us know-I know a lot of my readers like looking through the comments for different variations to try!
It turned out amazing!!! The top coating of apples were beautifully caramelized. I spooned some of the juices from the brown sugar, cinnamon, and apple mix and swirled it in to the batter. Delicious!
I used a glass pan and had to bake for a little over an hour, but so, so, so worth it.
Thanks for the recipe 🙂
Well, this sounds incredible! Would 1% milk work vs whole milk?
Yes Rosie, I don’t think it would have much effect on the way it turns out!
Hi Melissa,
Thank u so much for the recipe. Its surely one of the best .My family loved it and today my son took it in his lunch box. And the house does really smells good:)
I am looking forward to have more recipes from u.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for posting this amazing apple cinnamon bread recipe. I made it last week-end and my husband and kids gobbled it down before it even had time to cool. I ended up making another one. I just made two again today since I tasted it and now love it too!! I always cut back on sugar when baking. I used 1/3 c. Brown sugar with the cinnamon and only 1/4 c white sugar for the batter. It baked well and came out tasting sweet enough for us. Depending on the oven, but I baked mine for 1 hour. Thanks again for sharing this recipe.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it Bonnie!!
My family loves this recipe! I have another loaf in the oven right now, and my oldest decided to invite a friend over for “Mom’s famous apple bread.” But I did decide after making it for the first time, that it needs more apple in it.
That’s great Brittany! I’m glad you’re enjoying it and making it your own!
I have two loaves of apple bread in the oven right now, this is the best bread ever!
Thanks Brenda!
My wife bought me a Kitchenaid mixer for my birthday and this was the first recipe I tried with it.. Turned out great. I notice that the photo shows more of a flat top to the bread whereas mine had more of a dome in the center and the apple topping was pushed back.. I also used a glass dish and had to add about 9 minutes to the baking time. Would it be better to use a metal pan?
I used a metal pan to bake mine Neal, I’ll have to look into what the difference is-I’ll try my next batch with a glass pan to see if I get the same result and check back in.
I wonder if lowering the temp would create less of a dome. Recipes for baked goods sometimes suggest lowering by 25-degrees when using glass pans. If the oven is too hot, I’ve also read that it causes the leavening agents to work more immediately before the bread is cooked through and can create more of a dome…..Just my humble two cents worth. 🙂
Made it last night. It was super moist and amazingly delicious! Thanks so much for sharing your recipe!!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it Jennifer!
This is cake, no doubt about it. It’s bland. End of story.
I’m so sad you didn’t enjoy it Jay, yours is the first complaint I’ve heard, but everyone has different tastes…I hope you find a recipe that suits your taste better.
I LOVE THIS!!!! you seriously saved my life
This looks amazing! One question! Can we replace the butter/margarine with something else? Like oil?? Or any other sub?
I’m not sure Elisheva, I haven’t tried it with any substitutions. If you figure one out I’d love to hear how it turns out!
I do!
I do half the butter and the other half as unsweetened applesauce. I also swap the milk for vanilla Greek yogurt….oh and use eggwhites. Lol. I did make the original though!
This is one of the best recipes I ever got off the internet. This is a five star recipe. When it came out of the oven i served the slices with my homemade apple butter. Thank you so much!!! I think it would freeze great for the upcoming holiday season. It would be a great gift.
I’m so very glad you liked it Peggy-it’s one of my favorite recipes too! And yes, it freezes great!
Wow! One word says it all. Fabulous and easy to bake. Thanks so much for sharing. Perfect for fall.
Yay! I’m so glad you liked it Leigh!
This is a great recipe since it finally feels like fall in Florida! I used a honey crisp apple and it is perfect.
Yay! I’m so glad you liked it Erica!
