What could be better than a delicious apple crisp? A delicious apple crisp with peanut butter added in! This Peanut Butter Apple Crisp takes a classic and revs it up a notch, I promise you won't be disappointed.

This crisp is also super easy to make! It only takes about 10 minutes of prep work and 45 minutes in the oven. It's perfect topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream or just on its own.

    Ingredients

Nothing fancy here, you probably already have everything you need!

    • Fuji Apples, thinly sliced
    • Flour
    • Sugar
    • Cinnamon
    • Quick Oats
    • Butter
    • Peanut Butter
    • Brown Sugar

How to Make Apple Crisp with Peanut Butter

thinly sliced apples on wood cutting board

Start with thinly sliced apples. I prefer Fuji apples but you can choose your favorite kind.

apples brown sugar, flours, and sugar in glass bowl

Place the apple slices in a large plastic bag along with the flour, sugar, cinnamon, and water. Close the bag and shake vigorously to coat the apples with the mixture. (You can do this in a bowl as well, the bag is just faster and a little more fun!)

brown sugar coated apple slices in pie pan

Place the coated apples in a baking dish, an 8 by 8 casserole dish is the perfect size. If you use a larger dish like the pie pan like my photo above I would recommend adding one more apple to the bottom to fill it up.

Now for the topping! Mix the oats, brown sugar, peanut butter, and butter in a bowl, then pour evenly over the apples.

Forty-five minutes in the oven and you have a delicious, peanut-buttery fall dessert!

If you try it please let me know how you like it! This recipe is about five servings but can easily be doubled or tripled for larger crowds Enjoy!

I don't care for peanut butter and was wondering if I can substitute almond butter for the peanut butter. I know it doesn't have the same creamy texture and is more grainy but do you think it would work in this recipe?

This recipe is delicious! I made a few adjustments due to the fact that my husband and I follow a vegan diet, but it was amazing! I used maple syrup instead of sugar and water in the apples, and just excluded the butter from the topping all together. I will definitely be making this again. It was super easy, and only uses ingredients I always have on hand!
P.S. It's extra good with homemade coconut milk ice cream on top 🙂
