My local market had a special on peaches last week and I picked up a huge container. I love peaches in a borderline obsessive way. And while it’s hard to improve on the perfect sweetness of a ripe peach I dare you not to love these warm, syrupy caramelized topping on these baked peaches-especially topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

How to pick a ripe peach

Perfectly ripe peaches will have a bright color, fresh smell, and have a slight give when you press on them with your finger.

Ingredients

  • peaches
  • light brown sugar
  • butter
  • sugar
  • ground cinnamon
  • vanilla ice cream (optional but recommeneded!)

Step by step

  1. Slice the 🍑 peaches in half and remove the stone.
  2. Place the peaches in a baking dish cut side up and add 1/2 teaspoon of light brown sugar to the center of each peach half.
  3. Mix cinnamon and sugar together. Top each with a half pat of butter and sprinkle generously with cinnamon sugar.
  4. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes.
  5. Serve alone or topped with vanilla ice cream for an extra special treat!

Variations

  • Use maple syrup instead of brown sugar
  • Add a dash of brandy, bourbon, or even rum to the center of the peach before baking

FAQs

Can I make these on the grill?

To cook these on the grill, wrap the peaches in foil instead of placing in the baking dish, then grill for about 10 minutes.

How long do these last?

Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave for about 30 seconds or in the oven at 350 F for 10 minutes.

Can you freeze baked peaches?

While it is possible to freeze the peaches after baking, I don’t recommend it due to the extremely soft texture that results.
