BLTs are an excellent choice on their own with their crisp bacon, fresh lettuce and tomatoes, and creamy mayo. But you can make them a complete meal with the addition of some tasty side dishes. From chips to salads and soups, here are some great of the best side dishes to serve with BLT sandwiches.

What to Serve With BLTs

1. Fruit Salad

Sweet fruit salad is a great side for a savory BLT sandwich. Toss together cut berries, diced apples, grapes or whatever fruit you have on hand for a perfect lunch! We are especially fond of this watermelon feta fruit salad.

2. French Onion Soup

French Onion Soup is made with sautéed onions, beef broth, and spices. The broth is then topped with a layer of melted cheese, which is usually Gruyère or Swiss. Soup is perfect with a BLT sandwich and makes a great complete meal.

3. Tomato Soup

Tomato soup is not only super simple, but it’s also a delicious combo with BLT sandwiches! I think tomato soup is the best soup to eat with sandwiches, especially a simple BLT sandwich! The creamy texture of tomato soup is satisfying and makes a great side dish for a busy weeknight.

4. Onion Rings

Homemade baked or air fried onion rings are a great option to pair with a sandwich. They have a seriously satisfying crunchy texture and savory flavor which will be so good with the salty bacon, creamy mayonnaise, and sweet tomatoes on the BLT. Plus, baked or air-fried onion rings are a healthier option than deep fried onion rings.

5. French Fries

The same goes for french fries! You can make them in so many different ways. Bake or air fry them, add any combination of sauces you want like our homemade Zax sauce, and make them as crispy or as soft as you want them. Fries are a classic side dish for sandwiches.

6. Egg Salad

With a few hard boiled eggs and a few simple ingredients, you can quickly whip up a batch of egg salad to serve alongside your BLT. Adding egg salad on the side is a great way to add additional protein to your meal to make it more filling.

7. Pasta Salad

Pasta salad is another great side dish that is the perfect complement to a classic BLT sandwich. In fact, you could even try making a BLT pasta salad using the same crispy bacon and juicy tomatoes you used on your sandwich! Toss it all together with pasta and your favorite creamy dressing and chill until ready to serve.

8. Classic Macaroni Salad

This creamy pasta salad is a very popular side dish for sandwiches. It’s typically prepared with cooked macaroni, mayonnaise, chopped onion, celery, dill pickles, and seasonings such as salt, pepper, and mustard. Other variations may add diced bell peppers, hard-boiled eggs, and/or olives.

9. Crispy Cheese Curds

The salty, cheesy flavor of the curds is a great contrast to the smoky bacon and crunchy lettuce and tomato. They can be fried until they’re crispy and golden or baked in the oven for a healthier option. Cheese curds are so good and so indulgent!

10. Potato Salad

Making potato salad is fast and easy and can be prepped ahead of time. Once they’re cooked, you just add mayonnaise, mustard, celery, onions, pickles, and seasonings to the potatoes and mix until combined. You can also try this deviled egg potato salad for a fun variation!

11. Cucumber, Corn, and Red Onion Salad

If you’re looking for something light and fresh to serve with your simple sandwich, this salad is perfect! Red onions and vinegar give this salad a nice tag, and the cucumbers make this salad cool and refreshing. This is a great summer picnic side for a BLT!

12. Macaroni and Cheese

Macaroni and cheese is more indulgent and heaving, but I think most of us would agree it goes well with any main course! This side option is better if you’re looking for a more filling or comforting meal and is probably better for dinner than lunch.

13. Black Bean and Corn Salad

Black bean and corn salad (cowboy caviar) adds a fresh, summery flavor and a nice crunch to your BLT sandwich meal. To make a basic black bean and corn salad, combine cooked, cooled corn with diced tomatoes, diced red onion, and a really simple dressing of olive oil, lemon juice, and salt and pepper. You can also add diced avocado, crumbled cheese, or a handful of chopped fresh herbs for extra flavor.

14. Veggies and Hummus

This is another light option, but one that will be a little more filling because of the hummus. Veggies and hummus are the perfect side dish if you’re serving BLTs for lunch or heading out for lunch in the park.

15. Coleslaw

Coleslaw is one of the simplest recipes and more delicious side dishes for sandwiches, especially in the summer. The tangy flavor is a nice contrast to the BLT’s flavor, and it makes a perfectly light but satisfying combination.
