Bacon Mac and Cheese just got better because this recipe is made in the slow cooker! Creamy, cheesy macaroni with two types of cheese and a healthy portion of crumbled bacon will make this slow cooker recipe the hit of any meal!
I popped in my local Food Lion a few weeks ago to grab a few things for dinner and as I was shopping the cheese section I noticed some nifty little packages I had not seen before, Borden® Thick Cut Shreds. I knew they would be perfect for the recipe I was planning: Bacon Mac and Cheese!!

Slow Cooker Bacon Mac and Cheese
We are HUGE mac and cheese fans in our house and I love making it from scratch. Not only does it not contain all sorts of unnecessary ingredients that way, it just tastes way better. This Bacon Mac and Cheese is even more amazing because I’ve loaded it with heaps of bacon and we make it easy by prepping it in the slow cooker.
Bacon Mac and Cheese Ingredients
Just a few basic ingredients blend together for this amazing comfort food recipe:
- elbow noodles
- Borden® Thick Cut Shreds in Mild Cheddar and Mozzarella
- condensed cheddar soup
- bacon
- milk
- salt & pepper
- garlic powder
How to Make Mac and Cheese in the Slow Cooker
This recipe starts by boiling the noodles and cooking the bacon; I do both at the same time. I’ve tried adding the noodles uncooked in the past but found that it’s hard to get them perfect that way. By pre-boiling the noodles, we get the perfect texture every time.
While the noodles are boiling, cook the bacon until crisp and then dice it up on a cutting board.
Add the cooked noodles, bacon, Borden Thick Cut Shreds, and remaining ingredients to the slow cooker. Stir to blend thoroughly. Then, simply cover and set the temperature to high. Two hours later, bacon mac and cheese perfection!!
Is your mouth watering yet? I can’t begin to tell you how fast this gets gobbled up at my house every time I make it!
The Borden Thick Cut Shreds send this recipe over the top. They melt down perfectly for the ultimate creamy, cheesy mac and cheese! The Mild Cheddar Thick Cut Shreds add flavor without being overpowering while the Mozzarella Thick Cut Shreds make it ultra melty!
Have you visited your local Food Lion lately? I love shopping there for fast trips. It is always so easy to find what I’m looking for, and I rarely have to wait in line to check out so it makes it super convenient!

Oh my sons favorite food. I detest it but he loves it. And never had bacon in it but the slow cooker is my favorite mode of cooking. So we give food for Christmas and this will be his.
Thank you.
