Step by step
Make The Brownie Batter
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a 9 by 13 baking dish with parchment paper.

- Lastly, fold in the chopped chocolate chunks until evenly distributed.
Assemble and Bake the Brookies
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan. Spread evenly as the bottom layer.
- Drop large spoonfuls of the chocolate chip cookie dough on top of the brownie batter.
- Use a knife to create a swirl within the batter and mix the chocolate and brownie batters together.
- Bake in the oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Top the brookies with sea salt when they come out of the oven and let cool completely.
- Once cooled, cut into squares and serve!
Tips for best results
- Don’t overmix the batter to keep the texture just right.
- Let the Brookies cool completely before cutting to ensure clean slices.
- Use parchment paper for easy removal from the baking dish.
- Keep an eye on the baking time to avoid overbaking.
Variations
Try adding nuts like walnuts or pecans to the brownie batter for a crunchy twist. You can also experiment with different types of chocolate, such as white chocolate chips in the cookie layer.
Adding a hint of espresso powder to the brownie batter can intensify the chocolate flavor, making these Brookies even more decadent.
Serving suggestions
- topped with whipped cream and berries
- serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream
- drizzled with caramel or chocolate sauce
