Why I love this recipe
I love this easy berry sangria because unlike traditional sangria, it comes together in just five minutes, which means I don’t have to wait for the flavors to meld as it’s ready to enjoy right away. The fresh berries make it feel so festive and summery, adding a burst of color and flavor to every glass.
It’s also completely customizable, so I can use whatever fruits I have on hand, making it as simple or creative as I want.
Ingredients
- Grand Marnier – triple sec or Cointreau are good substitutions if ou don’t have Grand Marnier
- white cranberry juice
- sparkling white wine (prosecco is my favorite!)
- fresh strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries
Step by step
- Prepare the Fruit: Slice the strawberries and add them to a large pitcher along with the blueberries.
- Mix the Base: Pour in the orange liqueur and white cranberry juice, allowing the flavors to combine.
- Add the Sparkle: If serving immediately, top with sparkling wine, stir gently, and serve.
- Prep Ahead Option: If you’re making it ahead, refrigerate the mixture without the sparkling wine and add it just before serving to keep the fizz fresh and bubbly.
Tips for best results
- Choose the freshest, ripest berries for the brightest, most vibrant flavor.
- For a lighter version, add a splash of seltzer to each glass for extra fizz and a lower alcohol content.
- Keep the wine and juice well-chilled to so the sangria is nice and cold when serving.
Variations
While I love Prosecco in this recipe, you can easily switch it up with Lambrusco, Champagne, or even a sparkling Rosé. If you don’t want the sparkling wine substitute sauvignon blanc or reisling are good options without the bubbles. Each one adds a slightly different flair to the sangria but keeps the flavors delicious.
For the fresh fruit, berries are my go-to, but citrus like lemon and lime slices, granny smith or honeycrisp apples thinly sliced, nectarines, or even peach slices are fantastic additions. You can really make this recipe your own with whatever you have on hand as long as you keep the ratios the same!
Serving suggestions
For the best experience, serve berry sangria with cocktail skewers or blueberry caprese skewers, letting your guests enjoy the fresh, juicy berries as they sip.
This drink pairs beautifully with light appetizers like cheese boards, veggie platters, or even a vibrant watermelon salad for brunch or Mother’s Day or Easter parties.
Storage
Because the berries are delicate, I don’t make this sangria too far in advance—no more than an hour before serving. This keeps the fruit fresh and prevents it from getting soggy. It’s so quick to make that you can easily toss it together right before your guests arrive.
