Why I love this recipe
- No oven needed, which is always a win in my book.
- I love how simple it is. Just Oreos, chocolate, and candy.
- These Oreo Bats fit right in with the spooky season but are cute enough to make all year round if you’re feeling festive!
Ingredients
- double stuff Oreo cookies
- mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
- candy eyeballs
Equipment
- baking tray
- parchment paper
- skewer or toothpick
- microwave-safe bowl or double boiler, for melting chocolate
Step by step
- Start by lining a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.
- Gently twist apart the OREOs, separating 20 halves (from 10 cookies). Carefully scrape off the cream from these halves using a butter knife, as these will become the bat wings.
- Then, using your hands or a thin knife, break the 20 creamless Oreo halves in half. Don’t worry if some pieces are a bit uneven. Just match them with another piece of similar size.
- Set aside ¼ cup of mini semi-sweet chocolate chips for decorating the bats.
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the remaining ½ cup of mini chocolate chips. - Next, heat in 30-second intervals on low power, stirring in between, until smooth and fully melted.
- To assemble, take one Oreo half with cream and position the bat wings on each side. Add a small dab of melted chocolate to the center to help the wings stick, then place another Oreo half on top to complete the bat’s body. Set it on the prepared baking sheet.
- Using a toothpick or skewer, apply a tiny bit of melted chocolate to the top of the bat’s “head,” and place two mini chocolate chips to form the ears.
- For the eyes, dab a little melted chocolate near the center of the cookie and attach the candy eyeballs. Repeat this process for all the bats.
- Now, let the chocolate set completely before serving. If you’re short on time, pop the tray into the fridge for about 10 minutes to speed things up. Enjoy!
Tips for best results
- Use double stuffed Oreos as more cream filling makes it easier to stick the wings together.
- Make sure to let the melted chocolate cool slightly before decorating to avoid melting the candy eyes.
- Feel free to get creative with the wing shapes—different sizes can add character!
Variations
Try using different flavors of Oreo cookies, like mint or peanut butter, for a unique twist on your bats. If you are not using the double stuffed Oreos, use extra chocolate for binding them back together.
You can insert a lollipop stick in the cream filling before sealing the cookie back up with the chocolate to make bat Oreo pops or add a toothpick and use them as a cupcake topper.
Serving suggestions
- serve these easy Oreo bats on a spooky platter for a Halloween party
- pair them with a Halloween-themed drink, like vampire ice cream floats or orange sherbet punch
- place them in individual treat bags for school parties or neighborhood gatherings
Storage
Store Oreo bats in an airtight container for up to 5 days at room temperature or up to a week in the refrigerator.

Description
OREO bats are an adorable, spooky snack, perfect for Halloween parties or movie nights. Best of all you only need 3 simple ingredients and 20 minutes to make them!

- 40 candy eye balls

Notes
- You can use any variety of dark Oreos for this recipe, but my top choice is either Double Stuf or Mega Stuf. The extra filling makes it easier to keep the bat wings securely in place.
- If you opt for regular Oreos or a flavored version, a bit of extra melted chocolate or even frosting can be used to ensure everything sticks together nicely.
