I know, I know….a dessert cheeseball? We all know and love cheese balls as easy party appetizers but how can we make one a dessert?

Easy! This delicious Funfetti Cheese Ball takes the cheeseball base of cream cheese and adds in funfetti cake mix to create a sweet & creamy dessert perfect for serving with graham crackers!

Why I love this recipe

This is such a delicious but also visually appealing dessert. It is perfect for birthday parties or holidays like Easter or Valentine’s Day.

I love that it is a no-bake dessert and it is such a simple recipe that can be prepped ahead of time. It is always a huge hit at parties, but especially with the kids!

Can I just tell you how excited my kiddos were when I surprised them with this treat? Although in all honesty my husband and I were just as excited. This would be a great dessert for pretty much any kind of party-so easy to make and fun to serve!

Ingredients

  • cream cheese
  • butter
  • vanilla extract
  • Funfetti cake mix
  • powdered sugar
  • sprinkles
  • graham crackers or vanilla wafers for dipping

Note: Raw flour is not recommended as safe to eat because it can harbor harmful bacteria. Toasting the cake mix for just 5 minutes is enough to kill the bacteria, making this raw cake mix cheese ball safe to eat without worry!

Step by step

  1. Toast the cake mix and allow it to cool.
  2. Set aside a 24″ section of wax paper and small bowl to hold cheeseball while it chills.
  3. In a mixer beat cream cheese and butter on medium speed for 4-5 minutes or until light and fluffy. Reduce mixer speed to low and add in vanilla, cake mix, and powdered sugar until blended. The mixture will be quite thick.
  4. Form the mixture into a ball, wrap in wax paper and place in the bowl to help it retain it’s shape. Refrigerate for at least two hours or overnight.
  5. Place sprinkles in a shallow plate and carefully press the cheesecake ball into the rainbow jimmies to coat. Some sections may require you to press the sprinkles in with your hands in small sections, especially to get the last few spots without knocking off previously coated areas.
  6. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Serving suggestions

I like to serve this dessert cheese ball with graham crackers, animal crackers, nilla wafers, or apple slices for dipping but you can also serve it with pretzels for a sweet and salty combo.

Storage

Store leftover cheese ball in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
