Why I love this recipe

These little treats are so easy to make, with just a few simple ingredients, so it is a great recipe to make if you have little ones helping out.

They also come together in just a few minutes so it is a great go-to when you are short on time during the hectic holiday season.

Ingredients

labeled photo of rolo pretzel bites ingredients in bowls
  • dark salted caramel Rolos – Rolos are chocolates with caramel centers, you can find them in bulk bags in the candy aisle in the grocery store
  • pretzel snaps, or mini twists, or waffle rounds – the smaller holes ensure you don’t waste any chocolate!
  • red and green M&Ms – not Christmas? choose any colors you like!
  • holiday nonpareil sprinkles – these are optional but make them oh-so-pretty

Step by step

  1. Preheat the oven to 250°F and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Arrange the pretzels in a single layer on the tray, then place one Rolo on top of each pretzel.
  3. Bake for 2-3 minutes, just enough to soften the Rolo without completely melting and flattening. (I recommend 2 minutes for room-temperature Rolos, and 3 minutes if they’re chilled.)
  1. Once out of the oven, press an M&M gently into the center of each Rolo. Work quickly before the chocolate sets! Immediately after add a sprinkle of nonpareil sprinkles on top.
  2. Let the bites set at room temperature for about 20 minutes or chill in the fridge for 10 minutes to speed up the process. Enjoy!

Tips for best results

  • Be sure to keep an eye on the Rolos while they’re in the oven. They should soften, not melt.
  • If you’re in a rush, refrigerating them will speed up the setting process.
  • Make sure the pretzels are placed flat on the tray to prevent the Rolos from sliding off.

Variations

If you’re in the mood to mix things up, try swapping the chocolate for milk chocolate Rolos, or even peanut butter M&M’s for a different flavor. For toppings, consider using holiday sprinkles, crushed peppermint, or mini marshmallows.

What I love most about this recipe is that you can adjust it to match any holiday or just to fit whatever vibe you’re going for!

Serving suggestions

Rolo Pretzel Bites are versatile enough for any occasion! They are the perfect festive treat to serve at holiday parties, effortlessly adding a touch of sweetness to the celebration. For a personal touch, pack them into cute homemade gift bags.

These bites also shine on a cookie platter or dessert table alongside Christmas cream cheese cookies, offering a fun and flavorful option among other sweets.

Storage

You can store Rolo Pretzel Bites in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.

If you’re in a warmer area, consider refrigerating them to prevent the chocolate from becoming too soft. Just be sure to let them sit for a few minutes before eating so they reach the perfect texture!
