Ingredients
There are many variations of Champagne Punch, they usually consist of champagne, fruit juice, ginger ale, and liquor along with fruit. This recipe has the following:
- champagne or other very dry sparkling white wine
- ginger ale
- pomegranate juice (in the refrigerated section)
- Chambord liqueur
- strawberries
- oranges
- mint for garnish (if desired)
How to choose a wine
This is a sweet punch so I recommend you purchase an inexpensive brut champagne or prosecco. Brut is the least sweet variety which is needed to balance out the juice and fruit.
Tip: Brut is the driest variety of sparkling wine, even bottles that say dry or extra dry are not as dry as a brut champagne, so look for the brut designation when shopping!
I also don't recommend using expensive champagne or prosecco for this punch since we are mixing it with so many flavors. Save your money and buy the budget bottle!
Step by step
I recommend making this punch just before serving so it keeps it's bubbles.
If you'd like to partially prep it before hand you can soak the fruit in the juice and Chambord then add the ginger ale and champagne just before serving.
Variations
- if you do not like ginger ale you can use your favorite flavor of sparkling water or a lemon lime soda
- if you don't have Chambord (raspberry liqueur) you can tweak the recipe by using Triple Sec or Grand Marnier (orange liqueur)
- You can substitute the pomegranate juice with another sweet fruit juice like a V8 Splash
- Change out the fruit: raspberries, pineapple, watermelon, blueberries, or lemons would all compliment the flavors of the wine and juice.
FAQs
I'd recommend doubling the recipe to serve in a punch bowl so you have enough to fill it up.
Yes! To make this a mocktail instead of a cocktail substitute nonalcoholic sparkling cider for the champagne and omit the Chambord liqueur.
