If you’re into spicy, saucy things like I am, this Buffalo Chicken Salad is going to be your new obsession. It’s packed with that tangy kick I crave and comes together in the easiest, most satisfying way.
Whether I’m scooping it onto celery sticks or carrots or stuffing it into a wrap, it always hits the spot. It also keeps well in the fridge, works for lunch or apps, and gives me that buffalo fix without deep-frying a thing.
Why I love this recipe
What I love is that it’s fast, flavorful, and flexible with all the same flavor of my favorite buffalo wings. Every time I make this for parties I get asked for the recipe, it’s just so delicious!
Ingredients

- chicken – I like using rotisserie chicken for convenience
- onions – purple onion and green onion
- mayonnaise
- Greek yogurt – choose full-fat if possible for a richer flavor
- buffalo wing sauce – choose your favorite, I used homemade buffalo sauce but Frank’s Red Hot is my favorite store-bought sauce
- ranch seasoning mix
- blue cheese crumbles
Step by step
- Combine the mayo, Greek yogurt, and ranch seasoning in a large bowl, whisking until the mixture is smooth.
- Next add the shredded chicken, chopped purple onion, buffalo sauce, sliced green onions, and crumbled blue cheese into the bowl.
- Mix everything thoroughly until the chicken is fully coated and all ingredients are blended well.
- Finish by sprinkling extra blue cheese and green onion slices on top as a garnish.

Tips for best results
- Use rotisserie chicken to save time without sacrificing flavor.
- Adjust the buffalo sauce to match your preferred level of heat, it’s either mild or spicy, it’s up to you.
- Let the salad chill for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld beautifully.

Variation
This buffalo chicken salad is one of my go-tos, and I make little tweaks to fit what I like. I usually swap out blue cheese for cheddar, or skip it if I want something lighter. I prefer sour cream over Greek yogurt when I want it to be extra creamy. And for some crunch or zing, I love adding celery or diced pickles.
Serving suggestion
I’ve served this buffalo chicken salad in so many ways! For snacks, I go with crackers, celery sticks, or carrots. When I want something lighter, I’ll use lettuce wraps with romaine lettuce or butter lettuce.
It is also delicious packed it into croissants for brunch or rolled it into tortilla wraps for lunch on the go. And when I need something more filling, I toast a bun, add the salad, and top it with blue cheese. It’s also awesome on top of salad greens when I want a fast, no-fuss dinner.
Storage
Keep this chicken salad in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It is good for up to 4 days so it is perfect for meal prep. Stir it before serving. It gets better as it sits.
