Creamy, tangy, and a touch of sweetness are what make copycat Big Mac Sauce the perfect addition to your burgers. Luckily this is an easy homemade sauce that needs just a few simple ingredients you probably already have on hand and it tastes just like the real thing, no fast food required!
Why I love this recipe
Homemade Big Mac sauce is similar to Coles special burger sauce but it has the perfect balance of sweet tanginess that takes your burger to the next level. It is also great as a dipping sauce for french fries, chicken nuggets, or sweet potato fries. It whips up in just minutes so you can make a batch while your burgers are on the grill.
Ingredients
- mayonnaise
- sweet relish
- dijon mustard
- white vinegar
- spices: garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika
Step by step
There isn’t much to this recipe, simply mix all the ingredients together and serve! If are able, letting the sauce sit in the refrigerator for an hour before serving allows the flavors to blend more.
Tips for best results
- use a good quality mayonnaise, I prefer Dukes or Helmans, if you use Miracle Whip for this recipe it will have a sweeter flavor profile
- sweet pickle relish is preferred over dill pickle relish to help sweeten the sauce without adding sugar
- you can substitute yellow mustard for the dijon if you need to but you may want to reduce the amount of vinegar if making that substitution
- experiment with adding a little bit of barbecue sauce to give this tangy sauce a more smoky flavor
Serving suggestions
This is such a versatile sauce! Spread the secret sauce on the top of your burger patty and top with a slice of American cheese, white onion, lettuce, and tomato, or make your own Big Mac burger with an extra bottom bun in the middle! Serve it with onion rings, fries, chicken tenders, crispy smashed potatoes, or even fish sticks. You can also use it as a salad dressing similar to French dressing or Thousand Island dressing.
Storage
Store leftover sauce in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
