Description

This Easy Beer Cheese is a creamy, flavorful dip that combines cheddar cheese, light beer, and a blend of spices. It’s perfect for dipping pretzels, bread, or veggies and takes only minutes to prepare.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2/3 cup light beer
  • 10 ounces cheddar cheese, freshly shredded
  • 1 tablespoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a medium-size saucepan over medium-high heat.
  2. Stir in the flour and whisk constantly for about a minute.
  3. While whisking, slowly add in the milk, continuing to whisk until smooth. Allow to thicken for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Once thickened, add in seasonings whisking until combined. Add in the beer and stir.
  5. Add in ½ cup of shredded cheese at a time. Allow the cheese to melt before adding more. Repeat the process until all the cheese is melted.
  6. Remove from the heat and serve.

Notes

I suggest using freshly shredded cheese, as it melts more easily and has a smoother consistency compared to store-bought cheese. Store-bought cheese often has a powdery coating to extend its freshness, which can hinder its melting quality.
