Description

A brown sugar cinnamon swirl makes this Amish cinnamon bread a hit! (And no one needs to know how easy it is to make!)


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar + 1 tablespoon extra if desired for top
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2/3 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon together in a bowl and set aside.
  3. In a stand mixer (affiliate link) or large bowl, combine white sugar and butter until smooth.
  4. Add eggs and vanilla and continue to beat on medium speed until combined.
  5. Add flour and baking powder, then milk.
  6. Pour half the batter into the prepared pan.
  7. Sprinkle with half of sugar and cinnamon mixture.
  8. Pour the remaining batter over the top; add the remaining brown sugar/cinnamon mixture.
  9. Pat topping into the batter with the back of a large spoon.
  10. Use a butter knife to swirl the batter both horizontally and vertically to mix brown sugar mixture into the batter.
  11. Bake for 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the middle of the loaf comes out clean.
  12. Sprinkle with additional tablespoon of brown sugar over the top if desired.
  13. Cool in pan 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
