Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1-2 teaspoons white sugar, or to taste
  • salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large dutch oven (affiliate link) over medium heat, sauté ground beef, onion, and garlic until ground beef is browned. Break apart the meat as you go.
  2. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, chili powder, ground cumin, smoked paprika, dried oregano, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, sugar, salt, and pepper.
  3. Bring chili to boil. Once the sauce is bubbling, lower the heat and simmer for about 20 minutes, until the chili thickens.
  4. Serve over hot dogs.
