Do you ever get ready to make dinner and go to grab that last ingredient and BOOM it’s not in the cabinet like you thought it was? That is the story of my life! That’s why I learned to make Homemade Randy Dressing Mix from scratch!
Why Make Homemade Ranch Seasoning?
Like I mentioned, sometimes a recipe will call for ranch seasoning mix and I don’t have any in the pantry. This recipe comes in handy to save the day!
I also prefer the taste of the homemade ranch dressing mix to the store bought versions.
What Ingredients are in Ranch Seasoning?
Everything you need to make your own ranch seasoning is probably already in your pantry!
- salt
- parsley
- dill
- garlic powder
- onion powder
- basil
- pepper
Expert Tips
- Store the seasoning mix in an airtight container, I use a mini mason jar.
- Shake your mix before measuring it out to ensure the finer ingredients such as the salt haven’t settled to the bottom.
- Use this mix to flavor breading or casseroles!
- You can make actual ranch salad dressing with it by combining 1 tablespoon of the seasonings with a third cup of real mayonnaise and a quarter cup of buttermilk (add more or less buttermilk if you want it thicker or thinner.)
- If you do not have buttermilk, make your own by pouring 1 ½ teaspoons of lemon juice into a glass measuring cup. Add ½ cup of milk (higher fat is better). Allow to milk mixture to sit for 10 minutes before using it to make the dressing.
- Regular milk can also be substituted for a slightly different but still wonderful flavor!
